Ruth Less updates & gigs: Cabaret Derangium, Nina Conti, Barbican

Tonight, I get to "judge wannabe queens"... or, as I like to call it, "be." It’s the Double R Club 5th Annual Miss Twin Peaks Contest! And as the current reigning queen, it’s my duty to select a worthy successor…

And the past few weeks have been busy for Ruthie:

  • My absolute favourite Nina Conti had her on the bill for her Soho Theatre residency. I didn’t tell you to come cos it was sold out, of course.

  • The Icy Gays’ GENDERF**K event at the Barbican invited her to appear alongside Princess Julia and LaJohn Joseph, as part of the Fashion World of Jean-Paul Gaultier exhibition, of course, which is totally a world I feel comfortable in and part of. Yes.

  • The stunning Lolo Brow got her to take her make-up off at Theatre Delicatessen's Cabaret Derangium, an event whose producers should seriously consider hiring out their audience, because I would honestly pay 50% of my wages to have these people at every show for the rest of my career.
